Cross-country Ski and Snowshoe at Steepletop, New Marlborough, 02/11/2017

Join us for winter fun at Steepletop.

Saturday, February 11, 9:00am – 12:00pm

Pace: Easy

Terrain: Moderate

Description: 1,230 acres, miles of woods roads, beautiful wetlands and dark hemlock stands.  Bring your cross-country skis and follow Doug Bruce along woods roads lined with old stone walls and large oak trees.  Terrain is mostly level; moderate skiing-ability is expected.  Bring your own equipment.  Contact dbruce@bnrc.org with any questions.

If you bring your snowshoes, Mike Leavitt will lead a 2-mile hike, possibly with some off-trail walking to look for animal tracks along the way.  Contact mleavitt@bnrc.org with any questions.

If there is not enough snow, we will go on a hike instead!  Bring appropriate footwear and traction.  Everyone should bring plenty of layers, a snack and water.

Directions:  From Great Barrington, take Route 23 east towards Butternut.  Take a right onto Route 57/Route 183 towards New Marlborough.  Just before the Old Inn on the Green, take a left onto New Marlborough-Monterey Road.  Travel approximately 1.6 miles; take a right at the BNRC sign and park by the gate.  Carpooling is appreciated as parking is limited.
