Ashmere Island is on the northern half of Ashmere Lake. This 7-acre, forested island is very near the eastern and western shores at a pinch-point of the lake. Visit in the spring when azaleas are in bloom; visit in the winter with your ice-fishing gear. No camping and no fires, please.

Directions:
A public boat launch serving all of the lake is located at Ashmere Lake State Forest at the far south end of the lake (accessed from Hickingbotham Road in Hinsdale).
