Family Self-Guided StoryWalk on the Old Mill Trail, Hinsdale/Dalton

Enjoy the 1.4-mile accessible trail, flowing river, and learn about the importance of protecting water!

WHEN/WHERE:

We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom will be on display for a self-guided adventure from Saturday, April 9 – Sunday, April 24 (dawn to dusk) on the Old Mill Trail in Hinsdale/Dalton.

DESCRIPTION:

A beautifully illustrated, lyrical exploration of the values, connections, and wisdom of Indigenous people as it relates to water and Mother Earth. This book was inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements in North America to protect water as a sacred source of and for life. While the audience of the book is 3-6-year-olds, the content is great for all ages- even adults!

About StoryWalks: The pages of the book are installed along the trail. When you arrive at the trailhead parking area you’ll see an informational kiosk. The title page of the book and map showing the trail the book is installed on are at the kiosk. From there you just follow the pages!

DIRECTIONS:

From the center of Dalton: take Route 8 south to the Hinsdale line. From the town line, continue 4/10 miles to a left on Old Dalton Road. The trailhead parking is the first, immediate left, across from the Hinsdale Trading Company.

GPS: 42.4480, -73.1305 (trailhead parking)
