FREE SUMMER HIKES SERIES

Transportation provided from Pittsfield: Two pick-up locations

From July to October the Berkshire Natural Resources Council and the Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library, are offering free summer hikes with transportation provided from two Pittsfield locations.

Hikers will be picked up from either the Berkshire Athenaeum and the Berkshire Dream Center and transported to the various hiking locations and back to Pittsfield. Each hike will be at an easy pace and include stunning ridgeline views, a riverside trail, and boardwalk experience.


Interested in joining for one or all?

Where to meet: Catch the bus at the front entrance of the Berkshire Athenaeum at 10:00 am OR in front of the Berkshire Dream Center on the corner of Tyler and Grove St. at 10:15 am.

Participants will return to the Library by 1:45 pm and the Berkshire Dream Center by 2:00 pm.

Saturday, July 27th, 10am-2pm
Nature Hike at Hollow Fields, Richmond
Wide-open fields, stunning views!

Saturday, August 24th, 10am-2pm
Boardwalk Hike at Parsons Marsh, Lenox
On the lookout for birds and butterflies.

Saturday, September 28th, 10am-2pm
Hike on The Old Mill Trail, Hinsdale/Dalton
Splash in the stream and check out old mill remnants.

Saturday, Oct 5th, 10am-2pm
Nature Hike at The Boulders, Dalton/Pittsfield
Learn what to look for to identify trees!

All hikes are at an easy pace. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring lunch. Trail snacks and water will be provided.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
