Housatonic Heritage Hike at Clam River, Sandisfield, 09/23/2018

Hike past old farm ruins, through dark hemlock forests, and see beautiful views of the Clam River from high along its banks.

Clam River

Difficulty: Moderate (moderate pace, moderate elevation changes)

Description: Join BNRC staff to hike the newest section of trail at the Clam River Preserve. Pass old farm ruins, walk through dark Hemlock forests and see beautiful views of the Clam River from high along its banks.  This looped hike is 1.7 miles with moderate elevation changes.  Please bring lunch/snack, water, and wear appropriate footwear.

FROM LEE–Take Route 20 East through Lee. After passing under the Mass Pike, turn right on Route 102 and then take an immediate left onto Tyringham Road and drive until you reach Rt 23. Continue straight across Route 23 onto Town Hill Road and continue until it intersects with Route 57 in Sandisfield. Turn left onto 57, heading east. Take the first left (it’s immediate, almost a U-turn) onto Hammertown Road. Travel north on Hammertown Road for 0.6 miles, take a right into the pull off across from the white house.

FROM GT. BARRINGTON–Take Rt. 23 towards Monterey. Bear right onto Rt. 57 East towards New Marlborough. Travel through New Marlborough, staying on Rt. 57. Immediately after passing Town Hall Road, take a left onto Hammertown Road. Travel north on Hammertown Road for 0.6 miles, take a right into the pull off across from the white house.
