Ball Field

Formerly the site of a small baseball field for a few years. It looks abandoned now, but we’ll ensure it’s a real community resource in the future.

  • Great Barrington, MA
  • Difficulty: Easy, no maintained trails
  • Size: 3 acres

This land, and all of the present-day Berkshires, are the ancestral homeland of the Mohican people, who were forcibly displaced to Wisconsin by European colonization. These lands continue to be of great significance to the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation today. To learn more, visit mohican.com.

The Ball Field is on the west side of Park Street (Route 183) in Housatonic. Look for the backstop opposite the driveway for 252 Park Street. There is no parking area, but parking on the shoulder north of the backstop is acceptable.

If you’ve wondered why the baseball diamond on Park Street/Route 183 in Housatonic was so rough, here’s the answer: This property changed hands several times until it came to rest with BNRC. We’re still digesting it, but perhaps this parcel will be a ball field again.
