This 32-acre, recently donated parcel is Berkshire Natural Resources Council’s first land acquisition on Parsons Marsh. Combined with land owned by the Town of Lenox, the southern half of Parsons Marsh is conserved and open to the public. Berkshire Natural Resources Council holds a Conservation Restriction on Undermountain Farm to the north.

We have heard many memories connecting this land to the community and look forward to hearing about your future adventures at Parsons Marsh.

Community Preservation Act Fund: Lenox Annual Town Meeting Vote

Earlier this month, the Parsons Marsh pedestrian trail and boardwalk funding proposal passed unanimously at the Lenox Annual Town Meeting. It was nearly a year ago that this project was first brought to the town’s Community Preservation Committee, and numerous public meetings, open walks, discussions and presentations followed.  BNRC is grateful to the residents of Lenox for endorsing the project and allocating a portion of their Community Preservation Funds to make it happen.

BNRC recognizes an important partner in this project, the Lenox Land Trust for supporting the effort at every turn in word and action. A special thanks to Lenox Land Trust President, Ken Kelly, for volunteering so much time to ensure its success.

Pedestrian Trail and Boardwalk

In 2018 BNRC plans to construct trailhead parking and an all access pedestrian trail and boardwalk giving access to views across the Marsh. This will be an ideal destination for birding, taking a stroll before a Tanglewood concert, enjoying sunrises and sunsets and so much more.

Parsons Marsh Birdwalk and Volunteer Workday

May was a busy month at Parsons Marsh. Volunteers Ken Kelly and Ginny Akabane led a birdwalk throughout the marsh. Also, 17 volunteers worked hard disposing of an old fence and trash, and hauling brush to the wood chipper. This workday was kindly sponsored by the Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire and Valley Roll-Off Dumpster Service.

Until the trailhead parking lot is built, there is no formal parking at this site. See the Parsons Marsh Reserve for more details on access and maps.
