NORTH ADAMS — Soon-to-be-ninth-grader Chad Slick learned this summer that he likes spending time working in the kitchen and doing “hands-on stuff, like gardening.”
“I like making the food,” Slick said. “It gives me the satisfaction of, ‘Wow, I made that. That’s really good.’”
Slick is one of about 20 high schoolers—ranging in grades 7 through 12—from North Adams taking part in a summer program that gives students real-life experience in the different areas of agriculture at Many Forks Farm in Clarksburg.
North Adams Public Schools partnered with the farm, which is helmed by Molly Comstock, and Greenagers for the two-month summer program.
